Part of Fred’s phonics time includes a list of miscellaneous words to sound out in his head and then read aloud the fast way. Just a list. He doesn’t have to use them in sentences or anything. But Fred is very passionate about everything he does, and lives life to the fullest. After reading each word on the list, Fred likes to use it in a sentence. And he doesn’t just say the sentence. He expresses it with gusto. It takes a while to get through a lesson because of this enthusiasm, and most days I’ll remind him that we still have a story to read. But today, I had nothing pressing me to finish up with him, so I let him go with it. Here’s a glimpse of how the reading of the word list went:
“Sick: Awwe… the poor baby is sick.”
“Feel: I feel the pet dog.”
“Rock: Han is in the rock.” (Star Wars reference)
But the best one was:
“She: She is soooooo beautiful…” (looking up at me with a glint in his eye) “and she’s my mom.”
He’s got me wrapped, I tell you.

That is one of those moments you will never forget! I love that Fred!
That is just precious! A heart sweller for sure!
